Introducing Harvest Hills

July 27, 2019

Hello Neighbor ,

Over the past year, we have been diligently working to incorporate feedback from the community on the proposed Safari Highlands Ranch housing community. We are thankful for your support and the thoughtful input shared with us at dozens of neighborhood meetings, during the Draft EIR comment period and through online mediums.

We are excited to share with you that Safari Highlands Ranch is now Harvest Hills: Escondido’s first Net Zero Energy, Carbon Neutral and Agri-Neighborhood community. Harvest Hills honors Escondido’s rich agricultural history and supports the City’s sustainable future. It will deliver $58 million dollars worth of benefits for Escondido residents including public safety, parks and local school improvements and enhancements, among others.

  • Net Zero Energy Harvest Hills will showcase the future of renewable-powered neighborhoods by producing and storing enough clean, renewable energy to meet the neighborhood’s electricity demand.
  • Carbon Neutral Harvest Hills will support Escondido’s new climate action goals and help protect the environment by offsetting all greenhouse gas emissions created by the project.
  • Agri-Neighborhood Harvest Hills will include gardens, groves and boutique greenhouses that provide families the opportunity to grow their own fruits, vegetables and herbs. It will also include a new community center named The Farmhouse, which will be home to a one-acre neighborhood working farm, an aquaponics pond, recreational area and gathering space.

In addition to the changes mentioned above, we have also:

  • Reduced overall project footprint by more than 50 acres and increased preserved open space to more than 762 acres
  • Eliminated or reduced views of all new homes from neighboring communities
  • Increased total park space to more than 5.8 acres
  • Reduced grading plans by more than 700,000 cubic yards to preserve more hillsides

We are excited about these new project changes, and look forward to continuing our work with you on Harvest Hills. If you would like to learn more about the project updates, please feel free to contact our team at info@harvesthillsescondido.com or (858) 682-4383.
